From August on, new distribution criteria for feature films will be implemented. For drama series, NFTVF's support median will rise from 3% to 4%.

Changes in the Nordic financing and distribution models have restricted application opportunities for feature films at Nordisk Film & TV Fond (NFTVF). Therefore NFTVF has updated its funding guidelines. The implementation will be effective from August on.

NFTVF has also updated its Funding Policy concerning support percentages for drama series due to harsh market circumstances. The support median will rise from 3 to 4% of the total budget. The change will be put into effect in August.

Guidelines

Simiultaneously, NFTVF has clarified sections 2.6 Conditions for Production Funding and 2.6.1 Criteria for Production Funding, in its Guidelines.

A new provision has been introduced for feature film applications. Films that have been pre-sold to a media company or streaming service that is not one of the Fund's media parties, are now eligible to apply, provided that:

  • the production’s first distribution window is a Nordic theatrical release.
  • distribution rights are also held by a media party of the Fund in the producer's home country.

Funding policy

NFTVF’s funding policy defines the medians for funding support percentages. The median for drama series rises from around 3 to around 4% of the total production budget. This change will also apply to already submitted applications with an August decision deadline. The other medians wills stay the same (feature films 5%, documentaries 9%).
