Nordic productions have received five iEmmy nominations, and six Nordic films are submitted to the first round of Oscars as Greenland participates for the 3rd time.

The International Emmy Awards (iEmmy) honour excellence in TV works produced and initially aired outside the United States. The nominees for the upcoming awards were announced this week. Five Nordic productions are among the 64 nominees from 26 countries. Last week, all Nordic countries published their national Oscar submissions.

In iEmmy’s drama category Best Performance by an actress, Maria Sid is nominated for the series Pressure Point(Smärtpunkten). Swedish-speaking Finnish Sid, who is a well known actress from stage, TV and film in the Nordic region, also works as the Artistic Director of Stockholm City Theatre Kulturhuset.

The series Pressure Point is top-financed by NFTVF, and so is another nominated fiction production: The Sámi / Norwegian youth drama series, Shut Up! (Oro jaska - Hold kjeft) is nominated in the category Kids: Live-Action. This series, which addresses societal taboos in a small community, is co-created by Silje Bürgin-Borch and Vegard Bjørsmo. The series is one of many good results of a collaboration project initiated by the International Sámi Film Institute (ISFI), public broadcaster NRK and the Norwegian Film Institute.

Another nomination in the C&Y categories is season 4 of the animation series Moominvalley (Muumilaakso), produced by Gutsy Animations. This is the second time that the series receives an iEmmy nomination. It was also nominated in 2020.

In this year’s non-scripted nominations we find two titles: Danish Shaolin Heroes competes in the category Non-scripted Entertainment and Syria – The Truth Coming Out in the News category.

Last year, the sole Nordic nominee, One of the Boys (En af drengene) from Denmark, won an International Emmy in the Kids: Live-Action-category. This year the winners will be announced at the 53rd International Emmy® Awards Gala in New York City, on Monday, November 24, 2025. Before that all nominees have a possibility to meet in New York at the International Emmy®World Television Festival that takes place November 21-23.
