The TV drama Prisoners and feature film Under the Tree picked up ten and seven Edda statuettes respectively at Sunday’s annual Icelandic film & TV awards ceremony.
The series Prisoners co-created and directed by Ragnar Bragason did a clean sweep in the TV drama category and picked up the most Edda awards for a TV series in the Edda history, including Best TV Drama, Best TV show (voted upon by RUV viewers) and Best Supporting Actress.
The 6x50’ series produced by Mystery Productions for RUV was nominated for the 2017 Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize for Best Nordic Screenplay.

Under the Tree won in top categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and almost all acting accolades. The drama comedy produced by Netop Films was last year’s second biggest film on Icelandic screens and won several international awards following its world premiere at Venice Orizzonti, such as Best Director at Austin Fantastic Fest, and Best International Feature at Zurich Film Festival.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond was associated to 17 Edda awards for Prisoners and Under the Tree.
