Since September 1st, Marlene Billie Andreasen is the new senior executive producer at TV2 Denmark, reporting to head of fiction Mette Nelund.

Andreasen comes from a position as head of scripted content Denmark at Viaplay Group.

As executive producer for the streaming service, she is credited for several high-profile Danish films and series such as Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom-Exodus, Christoffer Boe’s Face to Face, Birgitte Stærmose’s film Camino.

With her background as an editor, trained at the Danish film school, she cut numerous successful shows such as Netflix’s The Rain and TV2’s Dicte.

At TV2’s fiction department, Andreasen will be part of the management team consisting of head of fiction Mette Nelund, head of production Carsten Sparwath and senior executive producer Pernille Bech Christensen.

She will be responsible for leading the content team behind, among other things, TV2's Christmas calendars and long-running series.

“Together with TV2’s experienced fiction team, I am looking forward to entering into the strong working relationships that TV2 has built up with the Danish fiction industry,” said Andreasen, underlining that amid the industry’s challenging times, she hopes to find - with the local industry, “long-term solutions that will ensure that TV2 can continue to bring fiction of high quality, variety and vitality.”

In a reassuring note, Nelund confirmed that the Danish commercial public service group will continue to invest in quality scripted content, despite market pressure notably from the advertising sector, and a 2.1% dip in revenues the first half of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. “We still have high TV drama ambitions and continue our investments in and development of Danish-produced fiction. That is why we are very much looking forward to having Marlene join the team,” commented Nelund. “Marlene has the right combination of commercial understanding and the strong professional foundation needed to ensure the development of the large, broad narratives that can bring Danes together and create important conversations.”

Recent premium series that launched on TV2 include Apple Tree Productions’ Chorus Girls (Dansegarderoben), Golden Nymph best Actress winner at the recent Monte-Carlo TV Festival, and Zentropa’s Agent that world premiered at the Berlinale Series.

Next up is the anticipated crime drama Oxen co-written by International Emmy-winning duo Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe, and Thomas Vinterberg’s first foray into TV drama Families like Ours (Familier som vores), due to premiere in 2024.
