The eight-part Danish crime drama Blinded: Those Who Kill, is produced by Miso Film with backing from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Tobias Santelmann has joined Natalie Madueño in the new season of the crime show directed by Jonas Alexander Arnby (When Animals Dream).
The psychological thriller is based on a screenplay from head-writer Ina Bruhn, written with Per Daumiller, Tine Krull Petersen and Bo Hr. Hansen.
In the new season, Natalie Madueño reprises her role as profiler Louise Bergstein who becomes personally involved in a new investigation of unsolved murders of three young men on the Danish island of Fyn.
One of the victims was 18-year-old Markus, whose mother Alice was a close friend of Louise's mother. When Alice is diagnosed with cancer, she desperately wants the murder of her son solved before she passes away, and asks for Louise's help. Louise has just taken on the task when another young man is found murdered in similar circumstances. Now Louise has to solve the case before another murder is committed, but it turns out that she may have a personal connection to the killer.
Besides Madueño and Santelmann, the cast includes Helle Fagralid (The Killing) and Soldbjørg Højfeldt (Ride Upon the Storm).
“It has been a pleasure to write a new season of Those Who Kill, where unlike other classic crime stories, the killer is uncovered in the first episode,” said Ina Bruhn, for whom the challenge was to make the killer relatable to the audience as a human being, rather than focusing on the whodunnit.
The first two episodes will launch on NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay March 28. Fremantle handles sales.
Season 1 was one of Viaplay’s most successful TV shows early 2019. It was acquired by BBC, Arte France, Lumiere and SBS (Australia/New Zealand) among others.
