The Norwegian series has been picked for global distribution by DR Sales.

The crime comedy COP (Purk in Norwegian) which just wrapped filming last week, is the second The Oslo Company-produced series, picked up by DR Sales after the youth drama Everything You Love (Alt du elsker) winner of the Student Award-Best Short Form Series at Canneseries 2022.

“We worked with DR Sales on our Discovery-HBO Max show Everything You Love- They are great!” said Trond H. Kvernstrøm, co-founder of The Oslo Company, who serves as creator, co-director and co-writer on COP.

Concept director Hallgrim Haug is part of the writers’ room together with Kvernstrøm, Marie Hafting (Everything You Love, Between Us), Tobias Nordbø, Katie Hetland and Kjetil Indregard.

Producer Ronny Johansen describes the six-part series as a crime comedy with a rich character universe and a strong female lead with a masculine core.

Lisa is a hardworking narcotics investigator in Oslo. Her life falls apart when her husband Jostein disappears during an undercover operation while working on a high-profile drug case. Lisa goes on sick leave and is forced into therapy for her anger issues. To top it all off, her demented mother, Signe, can't get a spot in a nursing home and moves in with her.

Despite everyone around Lisa believing Jostein's disappearance was an accident, Lisa believes it is connected to the Marko case that her husband was investigating. When she witnesses a botched interrogation of Marko himself, led by the "up and coming" officer Aila, Lisa decides to take matters into her own hands. But her boss Ole, is far from impressed and demotes her. By chance, in her new gloomy work environment, Lisa stumbles upon Shirouh, a small-time wannabe stand-up comedian who has just witnessed a murder... of Marko. Now they must help each other to help themselves.

The solid Norwegian cast led by Ine Jansen (Helt Perfekt, Everybody Loves Johan) includes John Carew (Home Ground), Trond Espen Seim (Varg Veum), Jonis Josef (Kasko) Tone Danielsen (22 July), Lars Berge (Wisting) and Iben Akerlie (Norsemen, Mammon).

The series executive produced by Ine Jansen and Trond Espen Seim is due to premiere on TV2 Norway in 2024.
