The Maipo Film/NRK series won Best Norwegian drama series and Best Actress (Anne Regine Ellingsæter) at Saturday’s annual Gullruten TV awards held in Bergen.

The TV drama set against the backdrop of Norway’s oil boom between 1969-1972 had just picked up other stand-out awards on April 30 at the ‘Gullruten fagprisene’ for behind the screen achievement, including Best Direction -TV drama shared by Petter Næss and Pål Jackman, Best Costume to Karen Fabritius Gram, and Best Script-TV drama (episode 7) to Mette Marit Bølstad. The screenwriter was also nominated for this year’s Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize-Best Nordic TV Drama Screenplay.

The eight-part series State of Happiness had its world premiere at Canneseries 2018 where it scooped Best Script and Best Music. Average viewers on NRK1 and NRK.TV were around 900,000. A returning season which will focus on the years 1977 to 1980 has been recommissioned by the Norwegian pubcaster. DR Sales handles global distribution of season 1.
