Exclusive: The Norwegian animated film by Ella Bella Bingo’s creator Frank Mosvold will be pitched this week at Bordeaux’s Cartoon Movie.

The sales company Sola Media specialised in children’s fare has boarded the ambitious €8m project, produced by Mosvold’s Kool Production with Gimpville, in Norway in co-production with Denmark’s A-Film Production and the Netherlands’ Phantavision Film.

“Several European studios have expressed interest in co-producing with us. We'll make up our mind after Bordeaux,” said Mosvold, en route to Cartoon Movie.

Written by Mosvold with Rob Sprackling (The Queen’s Corgi, Gnomes & Juliet), the comedy follows an immature Viking Prince, Magnus, who escapes his evil macho uncle by traveling through time from year 1030 to present-day Norway. Here he meets three drag queens who teach him what real courage is.

Scandinavian Film Distribution will handle the release in Scandinavia.

Mosvold’s previous film Ella Bella Bingo released during Covid in 2020 was sold by Studio 100 Film to a slew of territories such as the US, Canada, the UK, Benelux, France, Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland, the Baltics, Russia and Ukraine, to Turkey, South Korea and Latin America.

Sola Media’s Solveig Langeland and Barbie Heusinger will be attending Cartoon Movie to discuss The Legend of Magnus the Good and other animated films.
