Tobias Lindholm’s drama series posted a record 748,000 linear viewers and 42% share when it launched on TV2’s prime time slot on Monday.
According to a statement from global distributor Fremantle, the drama produced by Miso Film exceeded TV2’s prime time average by more than 43%, making it the biggest new crime drama of 2020.
The opening episode was also the number one show in TV2 Denmark’s prime-time slot and number one show of the day across all demographics, with 46% share among 20-60 year-old viewers.It also received a 4.4 out of 5 satisfaction rate from viewers and overall good reviews in the press.
The series created by Academy-award nominated Tobias Lindholm follows the complex investigation of Copenhagen Police Head of Homicide Jens Møller into the 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall.

In an earlier statement, Vogelsang had underlined the importance of the series for TV2 as public service channel: “Here you get a drama series about those who, on behalf of society, step in when the worst happens. The series' character gallery are the people who, on behalf of all of us, invest themselves for the truth, for justice and for the community. This makes it both an interesting and significant story to tell."
The Investigation premiered simultaneously on September 28 in the rest of Nordics, via SVT in Sweden and NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay in Finland, Iceland and Norway.
The series was sold by Fremantle to the BBC in the UK, Spain’s Movistar, France Télévisions and Germany’s RTL.
