Lars Lundström will work exclusively for the Swedish production outfit company following Nice Entertainment Group’s take-over of Matador Film.
Lundström is one of Scandinavia’s most established writers/producers, behind drama hits such as SVT’s Real Humans (Äkta människor), successfully remade as Humans for Channel 4/AMC, and SVT’s Brotherhood (Tusenbröder). Together with producer Henrik Widman, Lundström set up Matador Film in 2009, and produced two seasons of Real Humans and co-produced the recent Swedish drama Farang for C More/TV4.
Following MTG owned Nice’s 100% acquisition of Matador Film, Lundström will focus on strengthening Nice Drama’s scripted content for both broadcasters and global streaming services. Widman will not follow his colleague at Nice for the time being.
Lundström told nordicfilmandtvnews.com: “Joining Nice Group is a nice move in many ways. I will be working with great creative people in a group with expanding ambitions, so it’s fantastic.”
The screenwriter said he is currently working on an English language crime drama series called Julius’ Kitchen (8X60'), about a celebrity chef, and on the Danish/Belgian sci-fi project Hope (10X60'), about the colonisation of planet Mars.
Nice Drama has produced the Swedish drama series Thicker than Water, Swedish/French crime series Midnight Sun, and the Swedish documentary Superswede, currently on domestic screens. Their upcoming crime thriller Hassel will premiere exclusively on Viaplay September 8, 2017.
