The Norwegian animation film by Christmas at Cattle Hill’s Will Ashurst will be released in Norway by Nordisk Film Distribution December 25, 2023.

Norway’ leading animation studio credited for the successful Cattle Hill, Two Buddies & a Badger and Louis & Luca film franchises, is preparing a new delight for small and big kids: The Brothers Gruff go to Splash World (Bukkene Bruse på Badeland).

The 2D and 3D film adapted for the screens by Karsten Fullum (When the Robbers Came to Cardamom Town) is based on the popular children book series about the three Billy Goats Gruff created by authors and illustrators Bjørn F. Rørvik and Fry Moursund.

First published in 2009 in Norway by Cappelen Damm, the illustrated book for young kids Bukkene Bruse på Badeland has been a huge hit, selling over 700,000 copies in different versions, and rights have been sold to 11 different countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Germany , France, Japan to name a few.

The story turns on the Billy Goats Gruff who go on a chaotic adventure to “Splash World” instead of the dull meadow. There, they are chased by the troll who invents numerous dirty tricks to catch them an any cost.

In the pure Qvisten Animation tradition, the film will be both a fun visual and musical experience for the whole family, as the young Norwegian singer/rapper Kjartan Lauritzen has written a special song for the film -‘Badebussen’.

The film is being produced by Stian Tveiten for Qvisten Animation.

To take family audiences experiences and bring storytelling for kids to new levels, the leading Nordic animation studio has also announced that it has joined forces with Stargate Media to set up Qvisten XTND. The new division will deliver characters and universes for any platform, as explained by Arnt Scheele, commercial manager at Qvisten XTND. “Qvisten XTND will be able to handle projects of any size and complexity for all platforms, and will offer everything from concept development to the production of animated, interactive and immersive content for attractions, entertainment, games and education.”
