With almost 360,000 tickets sold for Scanbox since September 24, Twigson Ties the Knot (Knerten gifter sig) is so far the most successful film of all titles that premiered this year in Norway. The Norwegian children's film directed by Martin Lund was produced by Paradox.

Based on the literary classics written by Anne Cath Vestly, the second franchise film about the cute branch Twigson beat US favorites such as Inception, The Twilight Saga-Eclipse, Shrek Forever After, Alice in Wonderland and Sex & the City. Only Avatar had better results (over 758,000 admissions), but the 20th Century Fox blockbuster opened in December 2009. Twigson Ties the Knot still has a good life ahead as it was still number four last weekend after six weeks on national screens. The first Twigson film was the sixth most successful film of 2009 with 350,000 tickets sold. A third Twigson film - Knerten i knipe will be released in Norway next autumn.

Other Norwegian films are currently playing very strongly on local screens. A perfect screen entry for the Halloween weekend, the Norwegian docu-thriller The Troll Hunter sold over 50,000 tickets for SF Norge and took the first place at the Norwegian Top Ten. The Filmkameratene production had the fourth strongest opening for a Norwegian film this year, after Twigson Ties the Knot, Cold Prey 3 and Nokas.

The fifth title at the local Top Ten last weekend was the Norwegian youth film The Liverpool Goalie (Keeper'n til Liverpool) produced by 4½, which has just been selected for the Berlinale 2011 Generation programme. The local chiller Cold Prey 3 was number six with over 136,000 admissions total in three weeks for Nordisk, and Nokas, number seven last weekend for Sandrew Metronome, has passed 221,000 admissions in five weeks, making it the second most successful Norwegian film of 2010 so far.
