Lone Scherfig’s regular production partner will be heading the Danish Film Institute’s Fiction department from January 18, 2024.

Blenkov will replace Marianne Moritzen who will be leaving at the end of December, after 21 years at the DFI.

Blenkov, will be joining the DFI from her position as producer and managing director of Nordisk Film Creative Alliance. The division of Nordisk Film Production Denmark was set up in 2021 when Blenkov and her partners in Creative Alliance - writer/directors Lone Scherfig and Ole Christian Madsen, joined forces with the Danish production arm of the Scandinavian giant. Blenkov’s recent credits include Per Fly’s Backstabbing for Beginners, Scherfig’s film The Kindness of Strangers and series The Shift.

Speaking about Blenkov’s appointment, Claus Ladegaard, CEO at the DFI said Blenkov’s “combination of production and management experience will be a significant asset for the Film Institute's work with fiction projects."

Blenkov added: "It may seem like a big change to sit on the other side of the table, but I see it as a natural extension of my working life. I know and love the creation process of films and series from idea, to production, launch, festival life and the very meeting with the audience. With the great challenges in the industry and the new film agreement ahead of us, it is an important time to strengthen the creative approach, and insist on courage, and rooted change. “

Blenkov’s upcoming productions include Ole Christian Madsen’s film Boundless - based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q novel, Magnus von Horn’s The Little Seamstress and season 2 of Scherfig’s hospital series The Shift, produced for TV2 Denmark.
