The director’s latest mini-series A Wedding, Funeral & a Christening had the biggest premiere for a new programme on TV4 in seven years.
After a launch on the streaming service C More on February 4, the series premiered on the Swedish commercial channel TV4 at 21.00 on February 17, attracting 1,330,000 viewers for a 35.3% audience share in TV4’s 16-64 target group, according to media rating agency MMS.
Fredrik Arefalk, Head of Channel at TV4 /C More Film & Series said: “We haven’t had such a successful opening in many years. We have to go back to 2012 to find a new programme on TV4 which has reached such high figures, and when we add the viewers who have already seen the first episode on C More, we go beyond 1.5 million in total. This is a well-deserved success for Colin Nutley who, together with a fantastic ensemble cast, has created a great TV series.”
A Wedding, Funeral & a Christening is one year in the lives of two families, living in small town Sweden. The main cast includes Helena Bergström, Maria Lundqvist, Molly Nutley, Angelika Prick, Philip Zandén, Marie Göranzon and Alexander Karim.
The series was produced by Nutley’s Sweetwater Production, in co-production with C More/TV4, Nordisk Film and Film i Väst. TrustNordisk handles world sales.
Nutley’s previous mini-series, the crime thriller Missing, was one of C More/TV4’s biggest local TV drama in 2017.
