The project in pre-production has received support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Mumbo Jumbo will be adapted for the silver screen by A Film co-founder and Oscar-nominated director Karsten Kiilerich (When Life Departs, The Ugly Duckling & Me) from the children’s book ‘When Mumbo Jumbo Grew Giant’ by multi-awarded author/illustrator Jakob Martin Strid (The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear).

When Mumbo Jumbo magically grows to a giant size, he has to go on a dangerous journey with his three friends, to find the scary witch Baba Yaga so she can turn him small again. It is an adventurous journey which might make Mumbo Jumbo small again, but a whole lot bigger on the inside.

The film is being produced by Anders Mastrup for A. Film Production, one of Scandinavia’s longest-running animation studios, credited for The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear, Checkered Ninja 1&2 and Rose & the Stone Troll, all handled internationally by LevelK.

The children’s film has received support from the Danish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the West Danish Film Fund, DR and Nordisk Film Distribution.

The national release is scheduled for 2025.
