Iceland’s Edda film and TV awards bestowed annually by the Icelandic Film & Television Academy, will take place September 18, 2022.

Valdimar Jóhannsson’s supernatural drama Lamb is leading the film categories with 13 nominations, notably for best film, director and screenplay. Hilmir Snær Guðnason gets a nod for best actor and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson for best supporting actor, but surprisingly, Noomi Rapace fails to secure a nomination for best actress. The film produced by Go to Sheep picked up the ‘Prize of Originality’ at the last Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard.

The other two titles vying for best film are the Icelandic/Polish drama Wolka by the late Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson, and the 2021 B.O. hit Cop Secret by first-time director Hannes Thór Halldórsson. The Sagafilm production Wolka and Pegasus Film’s Cop Secret are running in 8 and 7 categories respectively, including best director.
