Co-founding partners and creatives include As Long as We Live producer Hörður Rúnarsson, The Minister’s co-writers Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson and Birkir Blær Ingólfsson.
The new company backed by a group of non-industry private investors will be introduced to professionals at the upcoming Göteborg Film Festival’s TV Drama Vision conference (February 1-2).
Act4 is set to become one of Iceland’s top film and TV creative hubs, alongside Sagafilm, Glassriver, and Vesturport among others, with each partner bringing ace credentials to the table.
US/Icelandic star actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped, The Minister, True Detective) will develop and produce content for his new outfit on top of his acting activities.
Hörður Rúnarsson who will act as creator and executive producer for Act4, is joining the company from Glassriver, which he contributed to establishing on the international stage as producer and co-owner. His most recent series produced for Glassriver- As Long as We Live created/written by Aníta Briem, is nominated for the 2023 Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize-outstanding screenplay of a Nordic series. His credits also take in Black Sands and Fractures.
Creator, writer and lawyer Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson will serve as the company’s CEO. He co-wrote The Minister and Thin Ice with Ingólfsson after working as entertainment lawyer.
Writer/novelist Birkir Blær Ingólfsson will act as Head of Development for Act4. He was awarded the Icelandic Children’s Literature Award for his novel Stormsker in 2018.
Speaking to nordicfilmantvnews.com, Rúnarsson said he was approached by his three partners and agreed to join their venture. “I had been pursuing for a while the idea of getting more involved as a creator on carefully created and financed prestigious series, and we realised we shared the same vision. Our goal is to focus primarily on high-end quality series for all types of platforms and broadcasters, on top of feature films,” Rúnarsson said.
The first slate of TV projects will be announced in Göteborg.
