Rúnarsson is one of Iceland’s most talented directors. His short film The Last Farm was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 and his second feature film Sparrows collected approximately 20 international awards, including a Golden Shell in San Sebastian 2015. The coming of age film is also representing Iceland at the prestigious Nordic Council Film Prize to be handed out on November 1, 2016.

The Icelandic/Danish/Croatian co-production was produced by Mikkel Jersin for Nimbus Film, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Versatile Film Sales handles world sales. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will announce its shortlist for the Foreign Language category on January 17, 2017 and the final five candidates on January 24, 2017.
