The first Carla global digital conference will be held in Karlskrona, Sweden (August 21-23).
The three-day Carla 2020 think-tank hosted by the Carl International Film Festival and Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) will bring together top creatives, researchers, industry people and activists.
Discussions will focus on how to build a more balanced film & TV industry post-Covid-19, notably by encouraging greater representation of women and minorities.
Besides high profile UK director Amma Asante (Belle, A Way of Life) and Anna Serner, CEO at the Swedish Film Institute (SFI), keynote speakers will include Tabitha Jackson, director of the Sundance Film Festival and broadcaster & entrepreneur Mo Abudu (EbonyLife, Nigeria). Other panellists include Hollywood producer Gale Anne Hurd (Aliens, The Walking Dead), Heather Rae (Frozen River), director Paul Feig (Nurse Jackie, The Office), Indian director Shonali Bose and actor Kalki Koechlin, Germany’s Emilia Roig, co-founder of the Centre for Intersectionality, Align Group’s Adrian Politowski among others.

The SFI will unveil findings from a new research about racism and ageism in the film industry, while Dr. Susan Liddy, chair of WIFT Ireland will launch the Palgrave Macmillan publication ‘Women in the International Film Industry: Policy, Practice and Power’.
