The independent follow up to the Swedish hit series Sthlm Requiem is due to premiere on C More February 6 and on TV4 and TV4 Play February 20.
Fans of acting duo Liv Mjönes and Jonas Karlsson as the celebrated investigative partners Fredrika Bergman and Alex Recht created by author Kristina Olsson, can look forward to being reunited with the characters of the 2018 series Sthlm Requiem.
The story written by Max Barron (Moscow Noir) is set several years after Sthlm Requiem.
Fredrika Bergman, is now working at the Swedish Justice Department. When an airplane is hijacked and the hijackers ask for the release of Said Kehlifi, a Syrian academic arrested in obscure circumstances by SAPO, Fredrika is asked by SAPO’s agent Eden Lundell to help with the investigation and teams up with her former boss Alex Recht. The airplane soon becomes the pawn in a game between the deep state of Sweden, the investigators and the mysterious hijackers whose real motives are not what they seem.
Besides Liv Mjönes, Jonas Karlsson and Ana Gil de Melo Nascimento who stars as Eden Lundell, the ensemble cast includes Adam Lundgren, Tsahi Halevi (Fauda), Gustaf Hammarsten, David Fukamachi Regnfors, Rita Hjelm, and Zardasht Rad.
“Hostage is a jaw-dropping drama thriller with unexpected twists and strong emotions,” said Piodor Gustafsson, Nordic drama director for TV4 Media and C More, and Hostage executive producer. ”The series lives up to our high expectations and in a time of dramatic spy revelations and infected great power politics, the theme is both relevant and very current.”
The series directed by Sthlm Requiem’s Karin Fahlén, is produced by Martina Stöhr and Petra Jönsson for Kärnfilm, in co-production with Black Spark Film & TV, Nice Drama and Belgium’s Lunanime.
Global Screen is handling distribution outside the Nordics and Benelux, pre-bought by Lumière.
