Mipcom: Actress Alexandra Rapaport has teamed up with producer Birgitta ‘Bigster’ Wännström and former Discovery Networks Sweden’s Calle Jansson.
Bigster will develop and produce drama, humour and entertainment for all platforms, with a focus on character-driven stories.
Rapaport takes on the role of Creative Director, while Wännström is Head of Drama and Jansson chairman of Bigster. Stina Meyer, Operations Director, joins the team from Endemol Sweden.
Rapaport who won Best Actress at the Swedish ‘Kristallen’ TV awards early September for her role in the family and crime drama Gåsmamman Season 2 (Mother Goose 2), said she ‘loves acting’ and will continue to work on a freelance basis at Dramaten (Swedish Dramatic Theatre), but she was ‘bitten by the bug’ of co-producing with Gåsmamman and wants to ‘go all the way’ and start a production company.
Calle Jansson said: “I've been on the first row to watch consumers’ behaviour change in real time. The demand on creativity, packaging and funding is huge, whatever the genre. Sweden and the Nordics have - with few exceptions - gone from being among the greatest innovators to convincing show-runners. There are great opportunities out there,” said the senior executive who will continue to hold a key role at Eurosport during the coverage of the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
Bigster has a Swedish project in production (the company refused to give details at press time) and two others in development that Wännström is bringing with her from her former company Mountaindog.
