After almost a month on Danish screens, Ole Christian Madsen's Flame & Citron is now nearing the 500,000 admissions, a level not reached by any Danish film since the 2005 family film Father of Four (511,258 admissions).
The WWII movie produced by Nimbus Film is still number one at the Danish Top Ten after four weeks, released on 73 screens by Sandrew Metronome. The Match Factory will start selling the film in earnest at the upcoming Cannes Market (May 14-23, 2008).
Niels Arden Oplev's youth drama Worlds Apart produced by Nordisk Film has also pushed admission figures up for Danish films (almost 300,000 in nine weeks), along with the two M&M productions aimed at children audiences The Lost Treasure of the Knight Templar 3 (193,057) and Frode & All the Other Rascals (222,158).
Thanks to those four great performers, Danish film attendance figures are 7% higher than during the same period last year, and Danish films market share so far is at 32%. Both Flame & Citron and Worlds Apart are supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
