The limited series set in the world of Swedish politics and journalism is directed by the Dane Milad Avaz.

The stellar Scandinavian cast currently filming in Stockholm includes Erik "Jerka" Johansson (Long Live the Bonus Family), Hanna Alström (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Adam Pålsson (Before We Die), Alba August (The Rain, Young Astrid), Valter Skarsgård (Beck) and Nina Zanjani (Agent Hamilton).

Based on a script by Milad Avaz (Alfa, While We Live) Jacob Katz Hansen (Ragnarok) & Anna Neye (Norskov, Between Us), the 4x40’ actioner is described as “a moving, funny and loving story that has something important to tell: how we humans deal with change.

We follow the widower Arthur (Johansson) who has been reluctantly summoned to join an investigation led by the famous journalist Cristina (Zanjani). The latter has started to question the media’s news flow about a sabotage against a gas pipeline, followed by mysterious blackouts. With the police and powerful people hot on their heels, Arthur becomes Cristina's partner-in-crime and experiences his craziest and most dangerous day ever. The problem is that Arthur has a date with Mille (Alström) and in order not to raise suspicions, the date must go ahead as planned.

Hell of a Date is being produced by Christian Potalivo for fast-expanding Drive Studios, majority controlled by Nordisk Film. Maj-Britt Landin, Drive Studios’ head of scripted serves as executive producer.

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2024.

The global streamer has been ramping up its presence in the competitive Nordic market in the last six months, with the investment in a 12-title unscripted and entertainment series slate announced in June and a three-year film deal signed with Nordisk Film.

Prime Video’s first Nordic documentary Take a Chance directed by Maria Thulin launched exclusively May 19 in the Nordics and Europe.
