Anders Østergaard's IDFA winner Burma VJ-Reporting from a Closed Country was picked up for distribution in the UK by Dogwoof and in the US by Oscilloscope. Half a dozen deals have been closed on the documentary film by Zurich-based First Hand Films.

The Magic Hour production supported, among others, by Nordisk Film & TV Fond, will be released theatrically in the UK and on DVD later next year. In the US, Oscilloscope Laboratories plans a theatrical and non theatrical release this spring and DVD distribution early 2010. The film featuring undercover video journalists during the Burmese monks' uprising in 2007, has won a dozen international awards since 2008 and continues it's festival tour in Austin and Thessaloniki.

At the upcoming MIP TV (March 30-April 4) First Hand Films will present a new one hour version of Burma VJ-Reporting from a Closed Country. Other new Nordic titles on First Hands' line up include the Finnish documentary All Boys produced by Kinotar. The film about the gay porn industry in the East and the porn market in the West was pre-bought by YLE TV1. Head of sales Esther van Messel said she picked up Markku Heikkinen's film because it is a technically perfect film offering an interesting approach to a delicate subject matter. The documentary film was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
