Love Me (Älska Mig) is the second TV drama picked up for world distribution by Eccho Rights, following Maria Wern.

The six-part TV show written by popular actor Bornebusch (Solsidan, Welcome to Sweden) premiered on October 11 on Nent Group’s streamer Viaplay and collected very good reviews in the Swedish press (4.3 average).

The series centres on friendship, grief and romance in the lives of three generations of people living in Stockholm - Clara, a respectable doctor who struggles to find the right person, her father, who unexpectedly rediscovers passion in his life, and her younger brother, hopelessly love-struck.

Besides Bornebusch and Gudnason (The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Borg/McEnroe), the cast comprises Gustav Lindh (Queen of Hearts, Top Dog) and John Ulvseon (The Bonus Family, The Truth Will Out).

Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights said he sees a lot of interest from buyers on “Nordic drama that moves away from the established noir fare and focuses on authentic stories, featuring relatable characters that everybody can identify with. Josephine Bornebusch is a unique and incredibly talented creator and presents us with a dramedy that explores the human condition in depth while never losing its humour."

Viaplay has commissioned a second season, currently filming. Love Me screened this week at Content London-Drama Summit.

Ecco Rights has been ramping up its intake of Nordic dramas in recent years. Other series on the company’s slate include Yle’s Invisible Heroes and SVT’s upcoming dating comedy Swiping, both backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
