The Danish scriptwriting duo Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm and producer Sven Clausen (photo) celebrated early this week their third International Emmy award in the Best Drama category for the TV series Livvagterne (The Protectors), produced for the Danish broadcasting corporation DR.

The Danish trio proudly raised their Emmy statuettes in front of a crowd of 1,000 entertainment professionals and media executives who attended the 37th International Emmy® Awards ceremony in New York, the most prestigious in the television industry.

The first time Thorsboe, Brostrøm and Clausen won an International Emmy was in 2002 for their crime series Unit One (Rejseholdet). Three years later they doubled their win with The Eagle (Ørnen). ‘These three series were made as a police trilogy, so for all three to win, it's completely incredible,' said Thorsboe. The Protectors follows a group of intelligence officers acting as bodyguards to high-level Danish politicians. The 10 x 60' series produced by DR in association with ZDF, NRK and SVT was broadcast on DR1 earlier in the year.

To celebrate the award, the Danish public broadcaster has decided to make a 60 minute TV film version of episodes 1 and 2, and to air it this Sunday at 22.10. A great TV evening ahead of Danish TV viewers who will also be able to watch at 20.00 the final episode of Forbrydelsen 2 (The Killing 2). Another ten episodes of The Protectors will be broadcast on DR1 early 2010. The series is sold internationally by ZDF Enterprises.
