DR launches DRTV360 to share insights with the independent sector.
Entitled DRTV360, Danish public broadcaster DR is presenting a new industry initiative aimed at independent film and TV makers. The intention is to strengthen knowhow in the independent sector.
Through DRTV360, DR will share their knowledge with producers, directors and others in the TV and film industry. The focus is on the streaming service DRTV, where DR collects insights about the viewing habits of their Danish audiences. The focus will be on user habits, publishing mechanisms, and streaming trends. This includes the most important key figures for DRTV, like classic “most viewed” lists and demographic profiles of specific programmes. But DR also wants to share more than the statistics and numbers. A part of DR’s approach is that public service can be measured in many ways, so success needs to be defined beyond the classic numbers of viewers.
DR is initiating DRTV360 to create a better Danish public service in collaboration with the independent sector. DR wants to increasingly share their knowledge, so industry professionals can get a better know-how for the development of new programmes. It is a concrete way of moving away from the idea that important knowledge about Danes only lies within DR, and instead use the insights actively in a dialogue about ideas, formats and target groups.
DRTV360 takes the form of half hour webinars in which industry professionals can participate. It is led by Agnethe Pontoppidan Sasaki, Head of Publishing for DRTV. Upon the launch of the project she states:
"With DRTV360, we open up the engine room for DRTV, because the knowledge DR Publishing collects about users should benefit the entire industry. In order to fulfil the ambition of our new strategy of being 'different together', it requires that both DR and the producers can see who we reach, who we don't reach - and what actually makes Danes discover new public service content."
The initiative was launched on Friday, April 17, and scheduled to take place again in 2026 on August 21, November 13, and in 2027 on January 22.
