NRK’s futuristic thriller won Best TV Drama and Best Actor (Pål Sverrir Hagen) at the Norwegian television awards held last Friday in Bergen. The series co-created by Thomas Seeberg Torjussen and Erik Richter Strand has been a major success for Tordenfilm that produced it with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

A returning season is in development and APC has licensed season one to territories including the UK, US (Walter Presents) and Australia (SBS). UK remake rights were recently picked up by UK producer and former Channel Four Head of Drama Liza Marshall of Hera Pictures. Mark Strong is set to reprise the role of Ravn, the surgeon running the illegal underground hospital, played in the Norwegian version by Sven Nordin.

Other major winners at the Gullruten awards celebrating the best Norwegian TV programmes aired between March 15, 2016 and March 19, 2017 were the following:

  • Vikingane (Norsemen) - Best Comedy series. Viafilm’s Anders Tangen (Lilyhammer, Dag) is currently producing season 2 for NRK. 
  • Aber Berger - Best Actress Ellen Dorrit Petersen. The legal drama was produced by ITV Studios for TV3  
  • Skam (Shame) - Best TV Moment and Audience award. The cult digital/TV drama was produced by NRK. 
  • Snøfall - Best Children series. The Christmas calendar series was produced by NRK. 
  • Dugma -The Button - Best TV documentary. Medieoperatørene produced it for NRK
