Zentropa's The Keeper of Lost Causes directed by Mikkel N
The Keeper of Lost Causes (Kvinden i buret) stars Nikolaj Lie Kaas as inspector Carl Mørck and his colleague Hafez el Assad (Fares Fares) on a mission to uncover the mysterious murder of a woman. Other cast members are Sonja Richter and Søren Pilmark. The first book of Jussi Adler-Olsen's bestselling thriller series about Department Q is adapted for the screen by Nikolaj Arcel for Nørgaard (Clown-The Movie). The film produced by Louise Vesth was awarded €470,000 from Eurimages. Nordisk Film & TV Fond also supported the project.
Shooting started on October 5 and delivery date is set for autumn 2013. TrustNordisk handles world sales and Nordisk Film Scandinavian distribution.
Dirk Ohm - The Illusionist That Disappeared (Dirk Ohm - tryllekunstneren som forsvant), was awarded €420,000 top financing from Eurimages. The film is inspired by the real-life disappearance of German illusionist Dirk Ohm during a holiday in Grong, North Trøndelag in Norway in 2003. Bjørn Olaf Johannessen (writer of Wim Wenders' upcoming Everything Will Be Fine) has written the original screenplay. The €4m project is produced by Maria Ekerhovd (Mer Film) who collaborated with Peers on his Palme d'or winning short film Sniffer (2006). Sweden's Migma Film and Wim Wenders' Neue Road Movies in Germany are co-production partners. Axel Helgeland is executive producer.
Two minority Nordic co-productions also received support from Eurimages: the Estonian film I'm Not Coming Back by renowned filmmaker Ilmar Raag (The Class), produced by Amrion (Estonia) with Finland's Helsinki Filmi, Russia's CTB Film and Belarus Film from the Republic of Belarus, and Sister of Mercy by Pawel Pawlikovski produced by Poland's Opus Film with Denmark's Phoenix Film Investment.
