Danish Robert Nominations
The Danish drama Daniel is competing in the top categories for Best Film, Best Director against May el Toukhy’s Queen of Hearts and Michael Noer’s Before the Frost, the two latter running ex-aequo with 13 Robert nominations. Two small budget films: Sons of Denmark by newcomer Ulaa Salim and Uncle by second-time director Frelle Petersen also run in the same categories, with each totalling four nominations.
In the Best Actress category, Clara Rosager (Before the Frost), Christine Sønderris (Cutterhead) and Jette Søndergaard (Uncle) get their first nomination against seasoned actress Trine Dyrholm who picked up awards in Göteborg and Zurich for her role in the 2019 Nordic Council Film Prize winning film Queen of Hearts. Victoria Carmen Sonne is running both for Best Actress in Laurits Flensted-Jensen’s debut film Neon Heart and for Best Supporting Actress in Maria Grahtø’s own debut Psychosia.
Among the Best Male Acting nominees, established talents Dar Salim (Until We Fall) and Jesper Christensen (Before the Frost) face rising stars Esben Smed (Daniel), Zaki Youssef (Sons of Denmark) and Gustav Lindh (Queen of Hearts).
Five eclectic films are vying in the Children and Youth category: the fantasy films The Shamer’s Daughter 2-The Serpent’s Gift and Valhalla, the music road movie Gooseboy, animated film The Street Party and youth thriller Hacker.
Within documentary, contenders include the 2019 Sundance winner Cold Case Hammarskjöld, Academy-award shortlisted The Cave, Nordic DOX: Award nominee Q’s Barbershop, and Photographer of War, the top selling Danish documentary of 2019.
The Icelandic film Woman at War gets an accolade for Best Non-English Language Film.
In the TV category, the top drama contender with seven nods is DR’s psycho thriller Deliver Us. The series competes for Best Drama against DR’s Follow the Money season 3, TV2’s A Fortunate Man, Seaside Hotel Season 6, and Viaplay’s Face to Face.
In the TV acting categories, Esben Smed is nominated for Best Actor both for A Fortunate Man and Follow the Money 3-an accolade shared with co-star Thomas Hwan. They will face Ulrich Thomsen (Face to Face) and Morten Hee Andersen (Deliver Us).
The leading ladies competing are Alba August (The Rain 2), Katrine Greis-Rosenthal (A Fortunate Man), Lene Maria Christensen (Deliver Us), Maria Rich (Follow the Money 3) and Rosemarie Mosbæk (Doggystyle 2).
Nordisk Film & TV Fond is associated to 37 Robert nominations for the films Daniel, Queen of Hearts, Valhalla, Psychosia, Cold Case Hammarskjöld and Woman at War. The Robert awards selected by the Danish Film Academy will be handed out on January 26 in Copenhagen.

Sweden Guldbagge Nominations
At the Swedish Guldbagge awards, a wide range of works are competing for Film of the Year:
Elsewhere, Mikael Håfström’s The Perfect Patient scores with seven accolades notably for Best Script (Erlend Loe), Lead Actor (Jonas Karlsson), Supporting Actor (David Dencik) and Supporting Actress (Alba August).
Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja’s critically-acclaimed debut film Aniara, collects four nominations for Best Direction, Lead Actress (Emelie Garbers), Supporting Actress (Bianca Cruzeiro) and Special Effects (Arild Andersson, Per Jonsson, Andreas Wicklund).
Lisa Aschan’s Call Mom! competes for Best Screenplay (Aschan), Lead Actress (Sanna Sundqvist), and Supporting Actress (Evin Ahmad), while Tuva Novotny’s Britt-Marie Was Here offers Pernilla August a chance to win Best Actress.
The best-selling Swedish film of 2019, the musical romantic comedy A Piece of My Heart watched by more than 260,000 Swedes since Christmas day, gets two nods for Best Make Up (Jenny Fred) and Costume Design (Anna Hagert, Anna Karlsson).
In the documentary category, Transnistra is running against Mikel Cee Karlsson’s A Stranger (for which Ulf Stenberg gets a Best Supporting Actor nod), as well as Ellen Fiske and Joanna Karlberg’s Josefin & Florin, also nominated for Best Editing (Erika Gonzales, Kristin Grundström, Karolina Bengtsson) and Best Sound Design (Claes Lundberg).
Surprisingly, the audience favourite Hasse & Tage by Jane Magnusson was ignored by the Swedish Film Institute selection committee.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond is associated to 32 Guldbagge nominations for the films The Perfect Patient, About Endlessness, Aniara, Swoon, Britt-Marie Was Here, Call Mum!, A Piece of My Heart, A Stranger and Josefin & Florin.
The Guldbagge Awards ceremony will be held on January 20, 2020 in Stockholm.
