The Danish psycho drama by debut director Cecilie McNair has received support from the Danish Film Institute’s talent scheme New Danish Screen.
A graduate from the Danish film School Super16, McNair has received numerous accolades for her short films Mikwano (2016) and Petit a (2018), both nominated for Best Short Film at the national Robert awards. Petit a also won the Young Directors Award for Best Student Film at the Cannes Festival 2019.
With Baby Pyramid, the writer/director expands the theme of infertility explored in Petit a, teaming up again with popular actress Danica Curcic (Equinox, Silent Heart). In the psychological drama, Curcic plays the fertility doctor Hannah, who is struggling with her own infertility. How far is she willing to go to make her dream come true?
First pitched at Göteborg’s Discovery programme earlier this year, the film just started filming. Nordisk Film Production’s René Ezra (The Investigation, Queen of Hearts, A War) and Matilda Appelin (A Perfectly Normal Family, Before the Frost) serve as producers.
The film co-financed by DR is expected to premiere in 2022.
