Berlin: Hans Petter Moland’s upcoming adaptation of Per Petterson’s best-selling novel starts filming this week. TrustNordisk has picked up world sales.

The €4.1m film is produced by Turid Øversveen and Karin Julsrud of 4 ½ Fiksjon, Norway, in co-production with Zentropa Entertainments5 Denmark, Zentropa Sweden, Helgeland Film Norway, Film i Väst with support from The Norwegian Film Institute, The Danish Film Institute, The Swedish Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond, in cooperation with NRK, DR and SVT.

Nordisk Film handles Scandinavian distribution. Stellan Skarsgård who starred in Moland’s 2014 Berlinale competition entry In Order of Disappearance, plays the title role as 67 year-old Trond who looks forward to spending New Year’s Eve 1999 in new-found solitude. As winter arrives he discovers he has a neighbour whom he knew back in 1948, the summer he turned 15 and much emotional upheaval changed his life.

Co-stars include Bjørn Floberg (Kingsman: Secret Service, Insomnia), and Anders Baasmo Christiansen (The King’s Choice). Filming will be split between a winter and summer shoot.
