NRK Drama’s TV series 22 July for which Sara Johnsen won the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize - Best Nordic Screenplay earlier this year, is nominated for Best TV drama, while Øyvind Brandtzæg and Ane Skumsvoll both compete for Best Actor and Gard Skagestad and Hamza Kader for Best Supporting Actor. 
NRK’s other hit series Exit produced by Fremantle is running for Best TV Drama, Best Actor (Simon J. Berger) and Innovation programme, and Norsemen 3 produced by Viafilm is vying for Best Comedy Series and Supporting Actor (Bjørn Hallgeir Myrene).

TV2 Norway collected a total of 17 Gullruten nominations, including three for Miso Film Norway’s political thriller Witch Hunt, vying for Best TV Drama, Actor (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) and Supporting Actor (Sara Khorami).

HBO Nordic makes its first entry at the Gullruten awards with its first Norwegian Original series Beforeigners produced by Rubicon, nominated for Best TV Drama.

Discovery Networks Norway received 13 Gullruten nominations, including two for Best Documentary series for the true crime show Falling Down (Mannen som falt) produced by Norsk Fjernsyn and Else om: barn from Teddy TV.
Other series competing in the same category are the major Danish/Norwegian true crime show Scandinavian Star (Nordisk Film Production Norway for DR/NRK) and Datoen (Monster).

NRK’s anthology youth series Nudes (sold to the BBC in the UK and SBS Australia among others) is competing for Best Children and Youth Series against three other shows.

Meanwhile the ‘Gullruten Fagprisen’ celebrating behind the camera outstanding achievements, were also announced last week.
Among the nominees are: 

  • 22 July, with 7 nods including Best Director (Pål Sletaune), Screenplay (Sara Johnsen) Editing (Zaklina Stojcevska), Costume (Kristine Barlow/Marit Sætren) among others, 
  • Exit, with 5 nods including Best Director/Screenplay (Øystein Karlsen), and Editing (Simen Gengenbach) 
  • Norsemen 3, with 4 nods including Best Director (Jon Iver Helgaker) and Costume (Nell Knudsen) 
  • Twin (Nordisk Film Norway) with 3 nods in the following categories: Best Cinematography (Magnus Flåto), Editing for a TV drama (Veslemøy Blokhus Langvik, Thomas Grotmol, Renate Henrikhaugen, Finn Krogvig) and Sound Design (Magnus Torkilden, Renate Bakke)
  • Witch Hunt with 2 nods for Best Cinematography TV Drama (Jakob Ingimundarson) and Best Production Design/Light (Sunniva Rosrad) 
  • Scandinavian Star, vying for Best Editing - Documentary (Martin Stoltz) 
  • Home for Christmas (Netflix), vying for Best Costume (Oddfrid Ropstad). 

The Gullruten nominees are chosen from programmes that premiered on Norwegian television and/or the web between March 18, 2019 and April 26, 2020.

The annual Norwegian Gullruten TV awards and Gullruten Fagpris industry awards will be held June 19, 2020 in Oslo and transmitted live on TV2 and TV2 Sumo. Each of the two TV awards were originally due to unfold May 9 and April 28, 2020 respectively, but were postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
