The Swedish director Tomas Alfredson (pictured with Bafta award) walked up the stage of London's Royal Opera House on Sunday evening to receive from the British Film Academy the BAFTA for outstanding British Film of the year with his English language Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. When receiving the award Tim Bevan, co-managing director of the UK leading production outfit Working Title said about Alfredson: "This [film achievement] would not have been possible without brilliant direction. We were very fortunate to have a man who is frenzy with details and totally inspiring as a director. This award really belongs to him." The John le Carré film adaptation also received a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay (Peter Straughan and Bridget O'Connor). The film is running for three Oscars (Best Leading Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Music) at the upcoming Academy Awards® ceremony to be held on February 26 in Los Angeles.
