Iceland’s acclaimed director Rúnar Rúnarsson (pictured - Volcano) will go back behind the camera on July 14 for his second feature Sparrows produced by Danish production house Nimbus Film and its new arm Nimbus Film Iceland. Pegasus Film (Iceland) and MP Film (Croatia) are co-producing, with support from the Icelandic Film Centre, the Danish Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
The director whose artistic common trait is to draw from his personal experience to create coming of age stories has taken this time as starting point the story of a 16 year-old boy, Ari who has to move back with his father the day his mother goes abroad for work. His childhood friends have changed, especially Laura whom he falls in love with and he must learn how to deal with his confused feelings of love and with the conflicting relationship he has with his father.
