With five nominations including Best Film and Best Actor (Ulrich Thomsen), Kasper Barfoed’s football comedy drama Summer of 92’ leads the Danish film selection for the Danish film critics’ annual Bodil Awards set to take place on March 5, 2016. Four other titles are competing for Best Film: the Oscar shortlisted A War which comes next with four nominations, Land of Mine and The Idealist that have three nominations each and Bridgent (2 nominations).
"Of course it is always interesting to count the number of nominations for each film to create headlines, but it is even more interesting to note that a total of ten Danish films have received at least one nomination each,” said Jacob Wendt Jensen, chairman of the Danish Film Critics Association. It shows that 2015 was a very strong Danish film year when it comes to the quality of the films both in depth and in width.
Wendt Jensen also stressed that for the first time, a documentary film protagonist has been selected for an acting category - Best Supporting Actress, namely Ruth Brejnholm who is the grand mother to the director Laurits Munch-Petersen in the film Shadow of a Hero. This is further proof that the boundaries between fiction and documentary have been broken in recent years, he stressed.
