The creator of Zero Tolerance, Executive Protection and The Third Wave Anders Nilsson, is bringing back his popular cop character Johan Falk (Jakob Eklund).

Described by the production company Modern Studios as being more ‘character driven’, the 6 x 90min new thrillers are co-produced by Film i Väst with co-financing from TV4 and Nordisk Film. Filming set to start in the autumn, will be partly made in Bavaria Studios in Germany. The first film of the series aimed at a theatrical release, will reach Swedish screens in April 2009.

Meanwhile Nilsson’s latest film When Darkness Falls, winner of the Amnesty International Film Prize in Berlin 2007, is enjoying its theatrical success in Italy. At the end of April, over 20,000 tickets had been sold in two weeks. The film was released on 28 screens through Teodora Film, almost as much as the film’s whole theatrical career in Sweden. “I’ve received bigger media coverage in Italy than in Sweden for any of my films,” said the filmmaker.
