Zentropa launches visuals, opening sequence of The Kingdom-Exodus

Lars von Trier’s third and final instalment in his cult hospital series will premiere on Viaplay October 9, and subsequently on DR.

The fast-cut playful opening sequence revealed August 23, (CLICK HERE) introduces the key cast consisting of old acquaintances from The Kingdom’s earlier two seasons, and new faces, from Mikael Persbrandt, Lars Mikkelsen Tuva Novotny, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Ghita Nørby, Nicolas Bro, Peter Mygind, Laura Christensen to Udo Kier.

Marketing savvy Zentropa has also revealed two official posters and 19 epic character posters of the ghostly five-part series, due to world premiere at the 79th Venice Int’l Film Festival in an ‘out of competition’ slot, before heading off to the 47th Toronto In’t Film Festival and the 60th New York Film Festival.

In connection with the production of The Kingdom Exodus, the first two seasons which aired on DR in the 1990s, have been thoroughly restored.

The full Kingdom brand consisting of 13 episodes has been sold by TrustNordisk to MUBI for North America, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Turkey and India, September Films for Benelux, Kick Films for Germany and Austria, Filmin for Spain, Aerofilms for Czech Republic and Slovakia, Synca Creations for Japan, AtNine for South Korea.

The series is produced by Zentropa Entertainment’s Louise Vesth, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
