The Finnish prodco has hired YLE’s Head of Drama Acquisitions Olli Tola as new Chief Creative officer.
According to Yellow Film & TV’s COO Milla Bruneau, Tola's recruitment is ‘an integral part’ of the company’s international strategy whereby CEO Olli Haikka and Head of Drama and International Development Petja Peltomaa will be able to focus more on international projects while Tola will be responsible for the domestic fiction projects.”
The company’s latest series Downshifters written by Timo Varpio is currently airing on YLE2. Season 2 is will premiere on Elisa’s SVOD service later this year.
Internationally Yellow Film & TV has attracted a lot of interest with its scripted formats. Downshifters has been optioned by Anagram Sweden for the Swedish market and by US production company Skydance Media (Grace & Frankie) for a US remake.
Meanwhile the prime time medical series Syrror (Swedish remake of Yellow Film& TV’s Nurses) premiered on Sweden’s TV4 on October 19 and attracted more than one million viewers for a 32.6% share. A fourth season of Nurses is in production.
