This year's Oscars entries Gone with the Woman by the Norwegian Petter Næss and The Art of Crying by the Danish Peter Schønau Fog have just been short-listed for the 65th annual Golden Globe Awards, along with 59 other foreign language films. Both films are supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

The Golden Globes which are handed out each year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association mid-January are seen as ‘bellwether' for the Academy Awards held a month later in Los Angeles.

Gone with the Woman was awarded the Discovery Award for Best Feature at the Hollywood International Film Festival last October. The Monster Film production starring Trond Fausa Aurvåg (The Bothersome Man) and Hollywood/Swedish actor Peter Stormare is the fourth biggest local hit in Norway with over 166,000 admissions so far for SF Norge.

Peter Schønau Fog's feature debut The Art of Crying was awarded this year's prestigious Nordic Council Film Prize and a Special Mention at Hollywood's AFI FEST in 2006. The film produced by Final Cut Productions is one of Denmark's most successful films of the year with over 228,000 admissions.

Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced on December 13 and the final awards on January 13, 2008 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
