The deal with the curated platform co-founded by Walter Iuzzolino was brokered by DR Sales’ executive Freja Johanne Nørgaard Sørensen.

Iuzzolino said: Cry Wolf is a character-driven, tense and emotional series which adds a totally new voice to our spectacular, existing slate of Danish drama. DR Sales consistently delivers high-class series with themes and powerful stories that have the ability to resonate with UK audiences and beyond.”

The intense drama Cry Wolf (Ulven kommer) created by Maja Jul Larsen (Borgen) tells of teenage girl Holly who writes a school essay about violence in her home, suddenly creating chaos in her family, as social services decide to remove the girl from parental care. But doubts emerge over who is telling the truth-the young girl or her parents.

The show was followed on the Danish pubcaster DR by more than one million average consolidated viewers when it premiered last fall. It went on winning Best Screenplay for a Nordic TV drama at the annual Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize in Göteborg, as well as Best Drama and Best Acting for the top cast Bjarne Henriksen, Fiona Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl, Peter Plaugborg, Christine Albeck Børge at this year’s Danish Robert film & TV Awards.

Cry Wolf also played across the Nordics on Yle, NRK, SVT and RÚV as part of the Nordic 12 alliance.

It will premiere on the French streamer Salto March 18.
