The eight-part Finnish TV show Piece of My Heart (Pala sydämestä) produced by Yle Drama is a fact-based social drama headlining Lotta Lehtikari (Time Out, Easy Living), Nina Koponen (Nurses) and Martin Bahne (Bordertown).

Directed by Hanna Maylett from a screenplay by Aino Lappalainen and Anna Lappalainen, the series follows the everyday lives of childcare workers Rita and Laura, as they try to make life better for children in distress in the Helsinki area. The case of a missing child forces Rita to dive deeper into her own consciousness. Meanwhile Laura tries to balance her demanding job with family life.

The series premiered on Yle in March and was also shown on DR and SVT Play. It will run on SVT's linear channel, RÚV and NRK later this year, as part of the Nordic 12 public broadcasters’ distribution alliance.

The North American deal with Topic TV is the US streamer’s latest collaboration with Yle Sales, as explained by sales executive Maria Kivinen: “We're pleased that our cooperation with Topic TV has evolved during the past years from ready-made sales of our dramedy series Blind Donna, and a few of our documentaries and factual series, to pre-sales and co-production of our new mystery drama series, Piece of My Heart.”

The Finnish series is one of nine international premium dramas, selected for the 60th Monte-Carlo Television Festival, unspooling in a hybrid version between June 18-22. Other TV series competing for the Golden Nymph-Best TV Drama include the UK series It’s a Sin, Israel’s Line in the Sand and the US’s Made for Love and Uncle Frank.

Meanwhile I am Greta directed by Nathan Grossman for B-RF is one of five titles vying for Best Documentary Film. The winners will be announced June 22, at a ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco in the presence of the festival’s Honorary President H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
