The new Scandinavia production house is headed by senior Swedish film and TV executives Josefine Tengblad, Sandra Harms and Danish Line Winther Skyum Funch.

US production and distribution group Endeavor Content, which has taken a minority share in Nordic Drama Queens is the latest global player to tap into the thriving Nordic scripted market via highly-regarded local production talents. Together the Scandinavian trio intends to develop and produce “premium drama content from established and untapped voices with an international imprint”.

Tengblad was formerly Head of Drama at C More/TV4 and previously indie producer. Her credits include the premium TV shows Agatha Christie’s Hjerson, Blinded, Top Dog and Alexandra-Therese Keining’s acclaimed feature Kiss Me.

Among the upcoming high-end TV dramas that she has ordered for C More/TV4 is the Alba August and Aliette Opheim vehicle The Congregation (BR-F) handled globally by Endeavor Content.

Harms joins Nordic Drama Queens from Fremantle-owned Miso Film Sweden, where she served as producer and managing director since 2014. Standout titles to her credit include the thriller series Modus 1&2, Box 21 and Jesper Ganslandt’s feature 438 Days starring Gustav Skarsgård and Matias Varela. Upcoming productions include the HBO Max Original Lust starring Sofia Helin.

Funch has more than 15 year-experience in film & TV drama, including 10 years at Yellow Bird where she worked most recently as exec producer and CCO. She is associated to top end shows such as Occupied and Rebecka Martinsson and the Millennium trilogy.

Speaking to nordicfilmandtvnews.com, Tengblad said she will miss “the C More/TV4 family” but the possibility to work with the talent-oriented Endeavour Content and go back to independent production was just “a dream opportunity.”

In a joint statement, Tengblad, Harms and Funch said “in a time where content creation is rapidly evolving, everything still comes down to talent. Our focus will centre on talent partnership. With Endeavor Content’s support and expertise, we will relentlessly pursue our goal to elevate stories that have not been told and in a way that resonates in the marketplace and with audiences around the world,” they said.

“We are excited to collaborate with Josefine, Sandra and Line on their vision to build a Scandinavian-based footprint for premium local and international drama content,” added Endeavor Content co-presidents Chris Rice and Graham Taylor. “Innovative storytelling has no borders and this new venture will provide opportunities to create stories from a wide variety of voices in a region that has already established itself as one of the top producers of global content.”

Formed in 2017 following the merger of WME and IMG’s film and scripted TV finance and sales group, Endeavor Content is a division of the global entertainment, sports and content group Endeavor. Major titles to the studio’s film credit include Paramount Pictures’ Book Club, Netflix’s Blue Miracle, Apple TV+’s suspense series Nine Perfect Strangers starring Nicole Kidman and upcoming Hulu comedy Life & Beth starring Amy Schumer.

Endeavor Content’s sales arm handles the hit series Normal People, Killing Eve and The Night Manager.

The US content and distribution group has a strong footprint in the UK market via stakes in The Night Manager’s The Ink Factory and recently formed The Studio Company.
