Sara Johnsen's Upperdog was the biggest winner of the 2010 Amanda Awards held last Friday evening in Haugesund, Norway, with five statuettes including Best Norwegian Film and Best Direction. The Friland Film production was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

The major Amandas in the acting categories went to foreign actors and actresses: Poland's Agnieszka Grochowska won Best Actress for Upperdog, Sweden's Stellan Skarsgård and Gunilla Röör won respectively Best Actor (A Somewhat Gentle Man) and Best Supporting Actress (Angel). Receiving the award on behalf of Stellan Skarsgård, director Hans Petter Moland said: "Stellan is a fantastic actor who has made fantastic contributions to Norwegian cinema over the years."

The second most awarded film was the children's box office hit Twigson (Knerten) by Åsleik Engmark, winner of Best Children's Film, Production Design/Cinematography, and Visual Effects. The People's Amanda went to Margreth Olin's Angel, also supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Other major awards such as Best Script went to Gunnar Vikene and Torun Lian for Vegas, and Best Documentary to Brothers at War by Øystein Rakkenes. The iconic Norwegian actress Henny Moan who played in the 1958 horror classic Lake of the Dead received the Amanda Committee Honorary Award.
