The Norwegian crime show created and co-directed by Kristoffer Metcalfe will premiere on NRK1 and NRKTV Sunday October 27, 2019.
Public broadcasters BBC in the UK and ARD in Germany are the latest prominent buyers that have acquired the crime thriller produced by Nordisk Film Production Norway for NRK.
Based on an original idea by Metcalfe, Kristofer Hivju and Gisle Norman Melhus, the 8x45’ series stars Rebekka Nystabakk, Marlon Langeland, Nanna Blondell, Mathilde L. H. Cuhra among others. Twin was produced by Nordisk Film Production’s Sigurd Mikal Karoliussen and Live Bonnevie, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Following the series’ world premiere in official competition at Series Mania in Lille last March, Twin has now been sold by TrustNordisk to more than 40 territories, including the US, Australia, New Zealand and Benelux, according to NRK. “This is fantastic and in line with the number of Norwegian series that are increasingly successful. Norway has definitely made its mark internationally on the TV drama front,” said Ivar Køhn, Head of Drama at NRK.
Susan Wendt, Trust Nordisk managing director added: “We are experiencing tremendous interest in Twin among buyers, and we are very pleased to have so many prominent broadcasters and distributors on board already. The series has a high profile Scandinavian cast, high production value, and is one of the Nordic TV series within the suspense genre that is the most anticipated. The audience can expect amazing pictures from picturesque Lofoten islands, as well as a story that is both thrilling and moving.”
