Norway is betting on edgy minority-driven dramas, pills, sex and rock ’n’ roll, while Finland is sticking to suspense and crime based on celebrated IP or true events.
As more than 3,000 international TV executives are gathering at this week’s C21 Content London’s King’s Place to discuss market trends, the Norwegian showcase put together by the Norwegian Film Institute, NRK with support from the Norwegian Embassy in London, and the Focus on Finland presented by APFI, Yle, the Finnish Film Foundation and Film in Finland will give a taste of what’s coming from those nations and what creative/financing partnerships they are looking for.
Hereunder is the rundown of the upcoming Norwegian shows to be pitched today and Finnish shows scheduled for tomorrow.
Norwegian guests set to introduce the series include NRK head of drama Marianne Furevold Boland, actor/director Aksel Hennie, Maipo Film producer Synnøve Hørsdal, creator/writer Thomas Seeberg Torjussen, creator/actor Caroline Glomnes, creator/director Bård Breien and creator/director Kenneth Karlstad.
The Finland in Focus slate includes the crime drama (Not) a Time to Die, selected for the C21 Drama Series Pitch competition (read our story - Exclusive - Content London Drama Pitch: Federation boards The Winter Pack, ITV Studios Rivals), the returning seasons of the hit series Helsinki Syndrome produced by Fisher King for Yle, Peacemaker produced by Reelmedia, and three new TV shows.
