Discovery’s EVP Chief Content Officer Nordics who has been with the Norwegian flagship station TVNorge since 1999 is leaving the media group this month.

In a statement on Tuesday, Espen Skoland, Discovery’s Senior VP Communication for EMEA and office lead in Norway, reminded the influential role and clear contributions to the US group’s Nordic operations and overall Norwegian media landscape that Landsverk has had in the course of his TV career.

“Eivind Landsverk is a legend in the Norwegian TV industry, and he is a very important part of the history of TVNorge and Discovery. From his first day here, he has worked really hard to ensure that we deliver the very best Norwegian content as possible, and he has succeeded time and time again.“

Skoland continued: “Eivind started at TVNorge when the internet was almost only text and pictures with low resolution, and traditional TV was standard in all homes. He was one of the first to see how streaming was going to change our industry, and who understood what this was going to do with the need for better and different content. It is not without reason that our streaming service discovery + is strong in the Nordic region and Norway today. “

Speaking about his two decades at the media group, Landsverk said he is “most proud to have been involved in taking TVNorge from being a small TV channel to now being part of a large TV house, which creates content that gets attention all over the world. “

He underlined the kudos collected by discovery+’s documentary series Estonia: The Find That Changes Everything” not only in Norway but also internationally. “It shows how strong the TV medium is and how much you can achieve with good storytelling. I will miss that aspect. That and all the good and nice people I have worked with,” he said.

Discovery's Head of Nordics, James Gibbons, also paid tribute to the outgoing-head of content. “As a former journalist and content enthusiast, I immediately realised when I met Eivind, how skilled he is. He has delivered on the most important things for us as a media house: high quality local content, which also has the potential to succeed internationally. I have learned a lot from Eivind, and have greatly appreciated working with him over the past year. I also know that Eivind leaves a very strong content management in all the Nordic countries, and that we are ready to build on the success we have had with discovery + and the linear channels in recent years,” he said.

Discovery’s head of programmes in the Nordics will now report directly to Gibbons, general manager UK and Nordics.
