The 50+ film package deal includes the recent local films The Crossing by Johanne Helgeland and Fools in the Mountain by Petter Holmsen.
The films are now available on TV2 Norway’s streaming service for NOK139 per individual purchase and NOK49 for 48h rental and are not part of TV2 Sumo’s subscription fee.
Christian Birkeland, TV2 Sumo digital director said the digital rental and purchase service had been on the cards for a while, but the coronavirus crisis made his team accelerate its launch. “In record time, staff members across TV2 have prepared this service, and I am very proud that we can now launch this extra offering for those who want to watch high-end movies through us", he said.
The WW2 epic The Crossing has sold 112,352 cinema tickets since its February 14 release via Nordisk Film, making it the 6th biggest film of 2020, while the comedy Fools in the Mountain has posted 87,515 admissions since February 21.
Other titles part of the film package include Mikkel Brænne Sandemose’s The Ash Lad-In the Hall of Mountain King and Sam Mendes’ 1917.
Egmont-owned TV2 Norway and Nordisk Film first announced their intention to strengthen their collaboration last November. It also comprised a partnership on the new ‘Oiii’ kids universe.
Cinemas in Norway are closed until June 15.
