Filming has started on Lærkevej, the innovative TV series produced by Cosmo Film for TV2 Danmark, which will introduce a new genre on Danish television: the US ?dramedy'.

"Lærkevej is a new genre that has never been seen before on Danish TV. The series in 10 episodes, balances comedy with drama, and humour with seriousness" explained Keld Reinicke, head of programming for TV2 Danmark. The Danish equivalent to Desperate Housewives or Weeds, is produced by Mie Andreasen for Cosmo Film, with support from the Danish Film Institute's ‘Public Service Puljen' and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

The top creative team includes main writer Metter Heeno (Flugten, Terkel i knibe), and concept director Kasper Gaardsøe (Sommer, Livvagterne). The 10 x 42' series features the ordinary suburban life of some three million Danes, with their detached houses by the sea, private hedges and Danish flag flying in the wind. But in Lærkevej, the characters are not so ordinary. For instance the three leading characters Katrine, Sune and Mathilde (played by Laura Drasbæk, Christian Tafdrup and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) have moved away from the capital to settle in what they believe is the perfect hiding place to forget -and make people forget about- their secrets. But things don't quite turn out that way they want.

Filming is taking place at the former airplane hangar in Værløse and the series will be aired on TV2 next autumn. Apart from Lærkevej, two other series will be launched this autumn: the family series Drømme and the crime series Blekingegade.
