First fiction series from the Faroe Islands
Produced by REinvent Studios, Denmark, with Faroese-based Kyk Pictures for Nent Group’s streaming service Viaplay, the six-part crime show Trom marks the first ever TV series coming out of the exotic Faroe Islands.
The series created and co-written by Torfinnur Jákupsson, is adapted from Jógvan Isaksen’s crime novels. Concept director Kasper Barfoed (Dicte-Crime Reporter, Below the Surface) is sharing the directing duties with Iceland’s Davíd Óskar Ólafsson (The Valhalla Murders). In the title role as journalist Hannis Martinsson who investigates the sudden disappearance of an animal rights activist, is Danish star actor Ulrich Thomsen. The premiere on Viaplay is set for 2022.
During the Nordic Talents’ case study, Torfinnur Jákupsson will explain the journey from idea to final script. REinvent Studios’ sales & marketing director Helene Aurø, financial controller Benedetta Sandri and KYK Pictures’ Jón Hammer, will go through the financing structure and challenges of creating an ambitious Nordic crime show, set in a remote setting and burgeoning filming environment.
Panellists will be available to answer questions after the online discussion.
Participants are invited to send their questions in advance to nordictalents@nftvfond.com or take part in the Zoom chat.
